Building Homes
Because the supply of affordable housing in America is critically low, constructing new homes is essential. A prominent organization dedicated to building affordable housing is Habitat for Humanity. Founded in 1976 and supported by President Jimmy Carter, Habitat for Humanity is present in all 50 U.S. states and around the world, relying on many volunteers and sponsors to help reduce the cost of homes. MiCasaSuCasa sponsors Habitat for Humanity's latest builds. You can contact MiCasaSuCasa to learn more about the status of our team-led builds and how to get involved, or visit our page to donate at: https://donorbox.org/the-lenny-jake-feldman-fundraiser-for-miami-habitat.

Finding Homes
Finding affordable housing can be challenging because many older affordable housing projects are being demolished for higher-end living spaces, while new affordable housing projects are somewhat uncommon. There are many different websites, databases, and organizations to consider which can help to locate affordable housing opportunity. HUD Resource Locator provides HUD housing information. USAGov's Housing Help includes information on subsidized housing, where the government pays property owners to reduce rents. Resources such as these are a great place to start your affordable housing search. You can learn more at:

Advocating for Homes
It is clear that the affordable housing crisis affects numerous Americans. Yet many are not aware of the urgency for affordable housing and the need to support affordable housing legislation. The National Affordable Housing Management Association is the leading organization committed to affordable housing advocacy. Representing 75% of America's affordable housing industry, NAHMA distributes information regarding the state of the nation's housing, providing constant updates on governmental decisions and metrics which detail specific affordable housing legislation. Groups such as NAHMA and others are excellent resources for affordable housing research and advocacy. You can reach NAHMA at: https://www.nahma.org/.
